Treat Mum Locally

Mother’s Day is coming up this Sunday 13th May and Murrumbeena Village has so much to offer… Take Mum out for a delicious breakfast at one of the many cafe’s, find a hidden treasure at Acquisitions of Distinction, choose the perfect card at the newsagency, indulge Mum with a beauty pack from the pharmacy or book dinner at one of the many restaurants.

Every Mum loves flowers on Mother’s Day, so we spoke to Jodi Eggleton from Moss and Maple Florist about the chaos that comes with being a florist this time of year and the gorgeous gifts she has in-store.

“Out of all the busy days in the florist calendar Mother’s day is the most enjoyable. I love that the things that I get to put together are mostly soft and feminine girly flowers, but most of all, that the recipients will really appreciate the thought. You can’t thank them enough right? There is a big lead up to the big day or should I say week, so a lot of forward planning goes into it. Ordering flowers months in advance, ribbons paper containers tape vases etc.…the list is endless and more than likely you’ll forget something so you have to be ready for anything. No matter how hard you try you can’t do everything yourself, so accepting some help is absolutely necessary, which for some of us is not so easy to do!! Lucky for me I have some awesome family and friends who willingly (god bless them) loan themselves to me and get given a job to do (often without clear description) that they accomplish like true professionals.  Greeting, serving, delivering, wrapping, watering rearranging, and best of all tidying up the horrific mess I make while furiously whipping up flowery goodness!!! Despite the stress, lack of food, lack of sleep and lack of any awareness of the world around me for the whole weekend…I love it all!! I wouldn’t change it for anything! It’s a beautiful thing to help share the love and who better to receive it than your mum!“
